shipping times & charges

PLEASE read this page to avoid misunderstandings.

  • Many items that we sell have free "ground" shipping in the USA, to all 50 states.

  • If a product description does not say "free shipping," the item does NOT get free shipping.

  • If you order an item that normally has free shipping, but you select a shipping method other than "ground," there will be a charge for shipping.

  • Shipping is NOT FREE outside the USA.

  • Our minimum shipping & handling charge for items that do not qualify for free shipping, is $9 ("ground" shipping, in the USA, up to 6 business days).

  • Except as noted, orders totaling less than $25 (before shipping & handling charges are added) are subject to a $10 additional fee. If your order total is close to $25, we probably won't hit you for the fee; but if you only need something that costs a few bucks, try to buy something else to raise the total, instead of paying the $10 fee.

The chart at left shows average shipping charges for one item that doesn't qualify for free shipping, in the contiguous United States. Your charge may vary, based on weight and distance. Home delivery costs more than business delivery. Indicated "days" are business days (Mon. - Fri.)  Saturday delivery is usually available, at an additional charge.
If you are ordering an item that has free shipping, and you are not requesting fast shipping, you can ignore this chart.

If you ask us for tracking information on a shipment and it turns out that you have already received the package, we will charge you $10,000. (We're just kidding, but PLEASE ask the people you work with or live with before you assume a package is late or lost.)

 

 
  1. If you can't find what you need or just want to talk to a human being, please call us toll-free at 1.203.878.8383. You can also reach us by fax, email or snailmail. Click the "Company Information" button on the left for contact info. 
  2. We're open from 8am to 6pm, Eastern Time (5am to 3pm Pacific time) Monday through Thursday. We close at 5pm on Friday.
  3. Orders received by 3pm Eastern Time are generally shipped the same day. If you need same-day shipping and are ordering close to our deadline time, it's better to call us instead of ordering online. We can often accept orders for same-day shipping as late as 5pm Eastern. Call us and we'll do our best for you.
  4. Nothing is shipped on weekends. If you place an order after 3 Eastern Time Friday afternoon, for "next business day" delivery, you will probably get it on Tuesday, not Monday.
  5. This site features secure online ordering, available all day, every day. If you don't want to order online, you can call us or send a fax or email.
  6. We accept major credit cards and Paypal, and also accept payment by check (payable to "AbleComm, Inc.") or wire transfer before shipping. We accept purchase orders from educational institutions and government agencies. 
  7. We do NOT ship COD.
  8. Some product photographs are not exact, but are pretty close.

  10. We have no minimum order for this site, but inexpensive items usually don't qualify for free shipping. Orders totaling less than $25 (before shipping charges are added) are subject to a $10 additional handling fee.
  11. We collect sales tax only on shipments to CT.
  12. You will receive an ORDER CONFIRMATION after placing an online order. This confirmation is sent to you automatically by Yahoo, the company that hosts this site, to confirm that your order has been received. It does NOT include additional charges for shipping or taxes that MAY be added when we process your order, and does NOT guarantee that the items you selected are in stock for immediate shipping.
  13. Most items are available for immediate shipment. You can call us at 1.888.225.3999 to confirm availability.
  14. Some items are sent to you directly from us, others are shipped by distributors and manufacturers. We try to ship from locations close to our customers.
  15. The online order form shows several shipping methods. "Ground" shipping is free for many items. You can also choose another shipping method, at an additional charge.
  16. We use a variety of carriers, including UPS, USPS and FedEx. 
  17. Saturday delivery is usually available, at an additional charge.
  18. On a few items, we will charge you for shipping unless ordered with another item, as noted in the product descriptions.
  19. If you are unsure about what you are ordering, please talk to us before ordering. We want you to buy the right thing.
  20. We work hard to make this site as accurate as possible, and we guarantee that there will be occasional misteaks. We welcome your corrections.
